Adobe Premiere Pro is a video editing software in real time based on the timeline. It is developed by Adobe Systems Incorporated and is part of the Adobe Production Studio, a suite of applications for processing of digital video and audio. Premiere Pro has a number of hardware and software partners and is often included in the OEM versions of video capture cards such as the Matrox RT.X2.

Premiere Pro is a completely rewritten version of Adobe Premiere, launched for the first time in 2003. Despite Premiere was also available for Macintosh, Premerie Pro did not support Mac Os because of the high cost of developing a cross-platform version and the various competing software available for Mac Os . Since its rewriting, Premiere Pro has gained approval from the industry of video and film and has been used in films such as Superman Returns and other developments such as Madonna’s Confessions Tour.

Version 1.5 released in 2004 has improved support for video content in High Definition and implemented new tools for project management and new filters. It also included support for 24p material (or, most commonly, is the size of the Panasonic DVX-100). Version 1.5.1 has added support for High Definition HDV and version 2.0 has improved editing, becoming also the first video editing software to natively support the format Canon 24F (cameras like the Canon Xl H1) with an additional update [3]. This latest version of Premiere Pro 2.0 requires SSE2 support by the processor, which is not available in older processors. In 2007 was released the CS3 version, which changes only in the graphic and has some new feature, but most of the commands is the same as the previous version.

The version of the CS5 suite is also for Macintosh, and for the first time has more important functions of Final Cut competitor, in particular, is 64 bits wide and is able to open directly into the timeline without transcoding or rewrapping many files: R3d, mxf, H264, XDCAM, DPX
Premiere Pro has been developed a version for beginners, Adobe Premiere Elements, intended for the consumer market.
